Libroo (libroo.ae) — Curated Children's Book Borrowing Service
Effective Date: 23 June 2026
These Terms & Conditions ("Terms") govern access to and use of the website libroo.ae and the book-borrowing subscription service operated by Libroo Arc F.Z.C., holder of trade licence number 55224 issued by Ajman Free Zone for library and archive activities ("Libroo", "we", "us", "our").
Please read these Terms before subscribing. By creating an account, purchasing or subscribing to a plan, or otherwise using the Service, you ("Member", "you", "your") agree to be bound by these Terms. If you have any questions about these Terms, please contact us at support@libroo.ae before subscribing.
1. Definitions
- "Service" means the Libroo website, mobile experience, curated book selection, subscription plans, and physical book delivery and collection service.
- "Member" means the registered adult account holder using the Service.
- "Child" means a child aged 0–8 years for whom a Member borrows books through the Service.
- "Borrowed Book(s)" means physical books loaned to a Member under a subscription plan, which remain the property of Libroo or its licensors at all times.
- "Content" means the text, illustrations, characters, and subject matter contained within any Borrowed Book, which is created and owned by third-party authors and publishers, not by Libroo.
- "Subscription Plan" means the paid membership tier selected by the Member, governing the number of books, loan period, and delivery frequency.
2. Eligibility & Parental Responsibility
2.1 You must be at least 18 years old to register for or use the Service. Where you provide information about a Child, you confirm that you are the Child's parent or legal guardian, or that you have the parent or legal guardian's authority to provide that information and use the Service on the Child's behalf.
2.2 By registering, you confirm that all information provided is accurate and that you are legally authorised to act on behalf of the Child in relation to the Service.
2.3 The Service is not directed at, and must not be used directly by, children. Libroo does not knowingly collect personal data directly from children; any information relating to a Child is provided voluntarily by the Member. Personal information provided through the Service is handled in accordance with Libroo's Privacy Policy.
2.4 You are solely responsible for supervising your Child's access to and use of any Borrowed Book, and for determining what is appropriate for your Child's age, sensitivities, and individual needs.
3. Nature of the Service
3.1 Libroo provides a curated book-lending (library) service. Books are loaned to Members for a defined period in exchange for a subscription fee and are not sold. Ownership of all Borrowed Books remains with Libroo or its licensors at all times.
3.2 Libroo selects and recommends books using factors including general age-appropriateness, publisher information, themes, popularity, awards and its own curation judgment. Our recommendations are intended to help families discover suitable books, but every Child and family is different and individual suitability remains subjective.
4. Book Content & Suitability
Libroo is a curation and lending platform, but the books we lend are independent third-party publications. We make reasonable efforts to curate and categorise titles thoughtfully, taking into account factors such as age range, themes and publisher information. However, Libroo does not author, edit or control the underlying text, illustrations or other Content and cannot guarantee that every word, theme, illustration, behaviour, food reference, cultural or religious reference, value, opinion or message within a book will be suitable or acceptable to every Child or family.
4.1 All Borrowed Books are third-party works created by independent authors, illustrators, and publishers. Libroo has no editorial control over, and makes no representation or warranty regarding, the themes, storylines, language, illustrations, values, or messages contained in any Content. This may include references, language, behaviour, foods, animals, beliefs, family situations, cultural practices or other subject matter that some Members may consider unsuitable, sensitive, offensive or inconsistent with their personal, cultural, religious, dietary or other preferences.
4.2 Age recommendations, category labels, and descriptions provided by Libroo are general guidance based on publisher information and Libroo's own editorial judgment. They are not exhaustive content warnings and should not be relied upon as a definitive assessment of suitability for any specific Child.
4.3 It is the Member's sole responsibility to review, or supervise their Child's engagement with, any Borrowed Book and to decide whether its content is appropriate for their Child. To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, Libroo is not responsible merely because views, opinions, themes, language, illustrations or other third-party Content contained within a Borrowed Book are considered inappropriate, offensive, unsuitable or inconsistent with a Member's personal preferences, beliefs or expectations.
4.4 How, when, and in what manner a Borrowed Book is read to or with a Child is entirely at the Member's discretion and responsibility. Libroo has no control over and assumes no responsibility for the manner of reading or the environment in which books are used.
4.5 If you believe a book has been incorrectly categorised or contains Content that should have been highlighted more clearly, please contact support@libroo.ae. We welcome such feedback and will conduct the necessary review and use it to improve our future curation and recommendations.
5. Reading Research & Information
Any statistics, research references or reading benefits mentioned by Libroo are provided as general information based on third-party research or industry sources. Individual experiences and outcomes will vary.
5.1 The website may reference studies, statistics, or general research findings relating to the benefits of reading to children, including potential effects on parent-child bonding, language development, or early literacy. These references are provided for general informational and motivational purposes only.
5.2 Such statistics reflect broad research findings or industry experience and are not a representation, warranty, or guarantee that any particular outcome — including bonding, developmental progress, literacy improvement, or behavioural change — will occur for your Child or household as a result of using the Service.
5.3 Outcomes for any individual family depend on numerous factors outside Libroo's control, including the frequency and manner of reading, the Child's individual development, and the home environment. Libroo makes no claim that use of the Service will produce any specific personal, developmental, or relational result, and none of this information constitutes a product claim, medical claim, or educational guarantee.
6. Account Registration
6.1 You must provide accurate, current, and complete information when creating an account and must keep this information up to date.
6.2 You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your login credentials and for all activity that occurs under your account.
6.3 Libroo reserves the right to suspend or terminate any account found to contain materially false, fraudulent or deliberately misleading information or used in violation of these Terms.
7. Subscription Plans & Fees
7.1 Subscription plans, pricing, and inclusions (number of books, delivery frequency, loan period) are as displayed on the website at the time of purchase. Prices include any taxes that Libroo is legally required to charge. Any applicable delivery or other mandatory charges will be clearly displayed before the Member completes the purchase.
7.2 Subscriptions do not renew automatically unless the Member has expressly selected and authorised an auto-renewal option. At the end of each subscription period, the Member must actively renew or purchase a new Subscription Plan to continue using the Service, unless an expressly selected auto-renewal arrangement applies. Libroo will not charge the Member's registered payment method for a new subscription period unless the Member has expressly authorised such payment.
7.3 Libroo may change subscription pricing from time to time by giving reasonable prior notice through the website, email, or other appropriate communication. Any price change will apply only to new Subscription Plans or renewals purchased after the effective date of the change. It will not affect any Subscription Plan already paid for by the Member before the price change takes effect.
8. Borrowing Terms
8.1 Each Subscription Plan specifies the number of Borrowed Books, the loan period, and the swap/renewal frequency applicable to that plan.
8.2 Book selection is curated by Libroo based on the Child's age band and any preferences indicated by the Member, but Libroo does not guarantee the availability of any specific title or edition.
8.3 Borrowed Books must be returned by the end of the applicable loan period unless the loan period is extended by Libroo in accordance with the relevant Subscription Plan. Any extension of a loan period applies only to the return date for the Borrowed Books and does not constitute an automatic renewal of the Subscription Plan.
8.4 If a Member wishes to purchase a Borrowed Book, this must be agreed with Libroo and the applicable purchase price must be paid before ownership transfers to the Member. Once payment is successfully completed, that specific book will no longer be treated as a Borrowed Book and does not need to be returned at the end of the loan period. Purchase of a Borrowed Book does not affect the Member's obligation to return any other Borrowed Books under the Subscription Plan.
8.5 Borrowed Books may previously have been enjoyed by other Libroo families and may therefore show reasonable signs of normal use. Libroo checks books before dispatch. If you receive a book that is materially damaged, incomplete or not reasonably usable, please contact us and we will arrange an appropriate replacement or other reasonable solution at no additional charge.
9. Book Care, Damage & Loss
9.1 Members are responsible for taking reasonable care of Borrowed Books while in their possession, including keeping them clean, dry, and free from markings, tears, or other damage beyond normal wear.
9.2 If a Borrowed Book is lost, not returned, or returned damaged beyond normal wear, Libroo may charge the Member a replacement fee reflecting the reasonable replacement cost of the relevant book. Where reasonably practicable, Libroo will contact the Member regarding the loss or damage before applying the replacement fee and explain the applicable charge, unless the Member has purchased that Borrowed Book in accordance with Clause 8.4 before the replacement fee is charged.
9.3 Repeated loss or damage of Borrowed Books may result in suspension of borrowing privileges or termination of the Member's account.
10. Late Returns
10.1 We understand that family life can get busy and occasional delays happen. If Borrowed Books are not returned by the applicable return date, Libroo will normally contact the Member to arrange their return. Where books remain overdue, Libroo may, at its discretion, apply a reasonable late fee for each overdue book. Any applicable charge will be communicated to the Member before it is applied, and Libroo may waive or reduce a late fee at its discretion depending on the circumstances. No late fee will apply to any Borrowed Book that the Member has purchased in accordance with Clause 8.4 before the applicable return date.
10.2 Libroo reserves the right to suspend a Member's ability to receive new Borrowed Books until overdue books are returned or resolved.
11. Delivery & Collection
11.1 Libroo will deliver and collect Borrowed Books in accordance with the Shipping/Delivery Policy, which forms part of these Terms.
11.2 Delivery timelines are estimates and not guaranteed. Libroo is not liable for delays caused by third-party delivery partners, incorrect address information provided by the Member, or circumstances outside Libroo's reasonable control.
12. Cancellation, Suspension & Termination
12.1 Subscriptions do not renew automatically unless the Member has expressly selected and authorised an auto-renewal option. If a Member does not actively renew or purchase a new Subscription Plan before the end of the current subscription period, access to the Service will end at the expiry of that period, unless an expressly authorised auto-renewal arrangement applies.
Once Borrowed Books have been allocated and set aside for the Member as part of Libroo's order fulfilment process (which may occur before dispatch), dispatched, delivered, or collected by the Member under a Subscription Plan, the Member may not cancel that Subscription Plan and no refund will be provided for the relevant subscription period, except where required by applicable UAE law, where Libroo cancels the Subscription Plan without fault by the Member, or where Libroo is unable to fulfil the paid Subscription Plan and does not offer a suitable alternative agreed by the Member.
12.2 Libroo may suspend or terminate a Member's account, without liability, for breach of these Terms, non-payment, misuse of the Service, or provision of false information, and may recover the value of any unreturned Borrowed Books.
13. Payment Terms
13.1 All fees are payable in advance via the payment methods accepted on the website. Libroo does not store full payment card details; payments are processed through a third-party payment gateway.
13.2 In the event of a failed or declined payment for a new Subscription Plan, authorised renewal, replacement fee, late fee, book purchase, or any other amount due under these Terms, Libroo may suspend the Member's account and access to the Service until the outstanding payment is successfully processed.
14. Prohibited Use
You agree not to:
- Resell, commercially rent, sublet or transfer Borrowed Books to another person or household as an onward rental or commercial service;
- Use the Service for any unlawful purpose or in a way that infringes the rights of Libroo or any third party;
- Attempt to reproduce, scan, copy, or redistribute the Content of any Borrowed Book;
- Interfere with or disrupt the operation of the website or Service;
- Create multiple or fraudulent accounts to circumvent subscription limits.
Nothing in this clause prevents a Child from ordinarily reading or enjoying a Borrowed Book outside the Member's home while the Borrowed Book remains under the Member's care and responsibility.
15. Intellectual Property
15.1 The Libroo name, logo, website design, curated lists, and original written content are the intellectual property of Libroo and may not be copied, reproduced, or used without prior written permission.
15.2 All Content within Borrowed Books (text, illustrations, titles, cover art) remains the property of the respective authors and publishers. Book cover images and descriptions displayed on the website are sourced through licensed channels (including the Google Books API) and are used for identification and curation purposes only.
15.3 Any concern regarding intellectual property should be directed to support@libroo.ae, and Libroo will review and respond to legitimate rights-holder requests.
16. Limitation of Liability
To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, Libroo's liability to you is limited as set out below.
16.1 The Service, including all Content within Borrowed Books, is provided "as available." Libroo makes no warranty, express or implied, regarding the suitability, accuracy, or fitness for purpose of any Borrowed Book or its Content for any individual Child, subject always to any rights or obligations that cannot lawfully be excluded.
16.2 To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, Libroo, its directors, employees, and licensors shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, including but not limited to losses that were not reasonably foreseeable when the Member purchased the Service, arising from or related to your use of the Service or any Borrowed Book's Content.
16.3 Libroo's total aggregate liability to any Member arising out of or in connection with these Terms or the Service shall not exceed the total subscription fees paid by that Member in the one (1) month preceding the event giving rise to the claim, to the fullest extent such limitation is permitted by applicable law.
16.4 Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits liability that cannot be excluded or limited under mandatory UAE law, including in respect of death, personal injury caused by proven negligence, or fraud.
17. Indemnification
To the extent permitted by applicable law, you agree to indemnify and hold Libroo, its officers, employees and agents harmless from reasonable claims, losses, liabilities or expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising directly from:
- (a) your material breach of these Terms;
- (b) your fraudulent, unlawful or serious misuse of the Service;
- (c) your violation of any applicable law; or
- (d) your deliberate misuse, unauthorised commercial exploitation, unlawful reproduction, or wrongful retention of a Borrowed Book or its Content.
This indemnity does not apply to the extent that a claim or loss results from Libroo's own negligence, fraud, unlawful conduct, or breach of these Terms, or where such liability cannot lawfully be transferred to the Member.
18. General Disclaimer
18.1 Libroo does not warrant that the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that all statements, statistics, or research references on the website are current, complete, or applicable to your specific circumstances.
18.2 Any general information provided on the website (including blog content, FAQs, or research references) is for informational purposes only and does not constitute professional, developmental, educational, or medical advice. You should consult an appropriately qualified professional for guidance specific to your Child.
19. Force Majeure
Libroo shall not be liable for any failure or delay in performance resulting from causes beyond its reasonable control, including natural disasters, government action, delivery partner disruption, or other events of force majeure.
20. Governing Law & Dispute Resolution
20.1 These Terms are governed by the laws and regulations applicable in the Emirate of Ajman, including the applicable rules and regulations of the Free Zones Authority of Ajman, together with any mandatory UAE federal laws that apply to Libroo, the Service or the Member's consumer rights.
20.2 Any dispute arising out of or in connection with these Terms shall first be addressed through Libroo's customer support and grievance process. If unresolved, disputes shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the competent courts in the Emirate of Ajman, subject to any mandatory rights or dispute-resolution routes available to consumers under applicable law.
21. Changes to These Terms
21.1 Libroo may update these Terms from time to time. Material changes will be notified to Members by email, website notice, or other appropriate communication. Updated Terms will apply from the effective date stated in the notice. By continuing to use the Service, purchasing a new Subscription Plan, renewing a Subscription Plan, or borrowing books after the updated Terms take effect, the Member accepts the revised Terms. Changes will not affect any rights or obligations that arose before the effective date, unless required by applicable UAE law.
